Питър Саркисян е американски артист, занимаващ се с нови медии, чиято работа комбинира видео прожекции и скулптура, създавайки хибридна форма на мултимедийна инсталация. Биография

Изложбата обикаля множество места по света, включително Музеят за изкуства в Ноксвил (Knoxville Museum of Art), Националният Музей за изящни изкуства в Тайван (the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts) и Музеят за съвременни изкуство Скотсдейл (the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art).

Творчество
Саркисян започва да работи с видеото като скулптурен елемент в средата на 90те. Основната препоставка за работата му остава отдаденото използване на видеото като инструмент срешу комерсиалната медия, най-вече телевизията, с цел да се трансформира дейността на гледане на видео от убиващо преживяването усилие в такова, което създава преживявания. Той постига това чрез съединяването на скулптурни елементи в прожеткирани видео изображения, за да създаде аудиовизуална илюзия, която улавя зрителя в противоречиви тълкувания, следователно подсилва състоянието на самоосъзаване, което отсъства при гледането на телевизия.
В цялата работа на Саркисян се обосновава идеята, че видеото в своята повсевместна и най-разпространена форма, е празна откъм преживяване среда и че чрез лишаване от това преживяване в интерес на информационнобазирани изображения, сме станали неспособни да схванем смисъла на последствията и съжителството с взаимно разбирателство. Неговите инсталации следователно се опитват да насочат най-известната в света медия обратно към курса на сблъсък със зрителя, с цел да представят наново елемента на преживяването на процеса на гледане.
Ако обичайната цел на филмовия режисьора е да разсейва зрителя чрез преустановяване на себеосъзнаването, то тогава целта на Саркисян е да създаде усещане за по-силно себеосъзанване чрез въвличане на зрителя в конструирани среди, които замъгляват границата между това, което е истинско и това, което е опосредствено.
